Daniel Sloss Comedy Live Cable Camera

The Brief: To plan, prep and operate a heavy lift cable camera system for 4 live comedy performances for Daniel Sloss’s most recent show.

Location: Istanbul, Turkey

This was a complicated project for several reasons. We had to fly all the kit from the UK to Turkey without knowing exactly what we would have access to in the country. The camera and lens package was on the heavier end due to the large zoom requirements needed. It meant the payload on the cable was fairly heavy so our rigging setup was more complex.

We had to operate the system continuously for four 2-hour shows. This was fairly draining on the crew and continuous checks and maintenance were required on the camera package, battery health, wireless links, drive belts and line tension.

The footage from the cable camera was used heavily in the final assembly and the show directors and promoters said it provided a very flexible and wide range of shots from a single camera package which made it both excellent value for money and a really interesting viewing angle.
